Ole gets the United job in shock move!

Anthony Kendrick is joined by Birmingham City fan and author Oliver Newman for this week's episode of the v2 football podcast.

We open the show by discussing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's appointment as Manchester United manager, on a three year contract. We look at whether United can get into the top four in what is a very close battle, and whether he will be able to bring in the players he wants.

England won their two EURO 2020 qualifiers over the Czech Republic and Montenegro convincingly, with two excellent performances. We look at the conveyor belt of talent, with Callum Hudson-Odoi the latest youngster to be in the England set up. How bright does England's future look? We also touch on the racist abuse suffered by some of the players and discuss what we consider an acceptable punishment.

To finish the show, Oliver explains to us his new book: 'A Fan's Perspective: Becoming a Football Manager.' in which Oliver tries to do a better job than Garry Monk at his beloved Birmingham City. Birmingham on the field were looking like play-off candidates, but following a nine point deduction and four straight losses relegation is looking like more of a possibility. We discuss whether the fine is fair.
