Q&A with Newport County Community Striker Luke Degilbert #13

Luke Degilbert returns for another Q&A to update us on his season with the Newport County Community side and his thoughts on Newport County and Aston Villa’s summer dealings and starts to the season.

Typically, living with autism can render it more difficult to communicate, form relationships and make sense of surroundings. However, Luke is an ambitious character and refuses to let his autism get in the way of his football dream of representing Wales.

How have you been since we last spoke? You well?

Really good thank you - really enjoying things at the moment and enjoying the football and the football season to.

What made you in love with the game?

The thing made me in love with football was the passion and playing it and I really do love playing it and I love the passion football fans give and the game gives you that great buzz and enjoyment that is why I love the game.

Which football player inspires you and who do you say you play like?

Football player that inspires me there are a few Jack Grealish, Paul McGrath, Ian Taylor and Vassell for Villa and Hourihane and Tom Lawrence for derby.

Players I like watching are Padraig Amond, Dan Butler, Scott Bennett, Ronaldo, Dele Alli, Trppier, Pereira for Watford, Louis Moult, Billy Bodin, Graham Burke, Mike Flynn, Wilfred Zaha, Marsh Brown and Jamille Matt.

Player who I play like well I'm usually upfront so when I'm up front I say Tom Lawrence and Rushian Hepburn-Murphy and when I’m in defence Alan Hutton, Jayden Bogle and Andrew Hughes.

What is your best position?

My best position I gotta say up is either front or left back as I can help team both positions and do well for team.

I'm happy where ever I play as long as I take my chance and do well for my manager and team.

How are you enjoying the season so far?

It’s going really good. We’re training at the moment, getting ready for the tournament and games coming up.

I'm really enjoying the season so far and looking forward to the games and all ahead.

What are you goals for the season?

To keep working hard helping the team and stay fit and healthy and just do my best for the team.

How is your charity work going?

I'm really enjoy it and the last one I did for Alzheimer's Society was really good and enjoyable to.

Questions about Newport County -

To keep doing well, staying together and hopefully push for play offs and go up.

The signings have been really good Mark Harris has been really good so far.

Tyreeq Bakinson, Jamille Matt, Keanu Marsh-Brown, Fraser Franks, Charlie Cooper, Antoine Semenyo, Andrew Crofts, Tyler Forbes look quality.

I'm looking forward to seeing more of Nick Townsend.

Questions about Aston Villa –

Villa have had a decent start League Two with 7 points from 3 games - what are your hopes for the season?

Villa are doing really well at the moment and if they can keep this form up and ifthe likes of Grealish, Hutton, Chester and Hourihane stay fit then I think there good chance of promotion.

Do you feel about the other new signings at Villa – who are you excited about seeing this season?

Really good John McGinn looks a quality player and keeping Grealish is a bonus as well as Hutton and Chester.

I think Villa have a good squad, Tuanzebe is also a really good player.

And finally, have any scouts come to see you?
