The 72 Show - December 2017
Anthony Kendrick is joined by Nick Davie for the December edition of The 72 Show, which includes an FA Cup Third Round draw review. For the first time in 67 years, there are no non-league teams in the Third Round.
We begin our football league review with the Championship, where Wolves sit top. Can they be caught? Cardiff lead the chase, with money pledged from the chairman. We also look at Middlesbrough and Leeds, who have underperformed so far and the relegation battle including Sunderland and Hull, who have appointed Chris Coleman and Nigel Adkins respectively.
Wigan sit top of League One, with four straight wins including a 4-0 over Wimbledon. Following Shrewsbury's fantastic unbeaten start to the season, they are now struggling slightly with a few defeats including against Bury. The manager wants to bring new faces into a small squad in January. Shrewsbury, Bradford and Portsmouth are amongst the top sides and Blackburn have been on an excellent run of form. At the bottom of the league, we look at Plymouth, who have played seven goalkeepers this season and Steve Lovell's appointment as Gillingham boss.
League Two sees Luton at the top of the table after an excellent run of form including a 7-0 victory over Cambridge and a draw against title rivals Notts County. Mark McGhee has come in as Barnet boss and quickly taken the side out of the relegation zone, and Chesterfield have seen some improvement since the appointment of Jack Lester. Forest Green are bottom of the league, struggling after a positive start.
