The 72 Show - Episode 2.11 (with Barry Hayles)
Anthony Kendrick and Nick Davie are joined by former Bristol Rovers, Millwall and Fulham striker Barry Hayles. Barry currently plays for Chesham United, who were knocked out in the FA Cup First Round to Peterborough.
We open the show by discussing the Championship, where Newcastle lost to Nottingham Forest after being down to nine men, with both red cards overturned. We also discuss two 5-0 wins for Fulham and Norwich. Steve Bruce suffered his first loss as Aston Villa manager, a 2-0 defeat against Leeds.
We then move on to discuss Barry's career, in which he played for a number of football league clubs, and how he continues to play at the age of 43, and is reportedly the oldest player to appear in this season's FA Cup.
The FA Cup Second Round saw three Non-League sides beat Football League opposition, in Barrow, Lincoln City and Sutton United, turning over Bristol Rovers, Oldham Athletic and Cheltenham Town. The incredible game which saw Wimbledon score four goals to come back from 3-0 down against Curzon Ashton is also analysed.
We also look at a couple of the games which went to replays. MK Dons have brought in new manager Robbie Neilson, who will face former MK Dons manager Karl Robinson again in the replay after a 0-0 draw. Newport County and Plymouth Argyle will also have a replay, which will have more intensity with a third round tie at Anfield up for grabs. Also, the lowest ranked side still in the FA Cup are Stourbridge, who had their game against Northampton called off.
